Electrical problem
2002 Dodge Ram V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 60K miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
We have a Ram 1500, '02, 4.7L. Back in the summer, the battery (apparently) died. I put a new one in and ever since, the alarm sometimes goes off when parked in our driveway. Now (3 mos. later) the battery isn't charging very well again (dead overnight) and the truck won't idle until it's been running for a long time, also dies and has to be jumped.

I'm a decent mechanic when it comes to vintage stuff, but I don't know much about computers and all the sensors that vehicles come equipped with these days. I would normally suspect the alternator, but that doesn't go ver far to explain the security problem.

Any help you can give would be much appreciated.

Check fuse no.19 20amp fuse at integrated power module on left front of engine compartment. Could be the computer not controlling the generator/alternator field circuit. See below diagram

Looks like #19 is a 10 amp fuse (under our hood). Is it possible the factory put the wrong one in?

Also, the diagram you uploaded is too small to read, do you have a link to a larger image?

Thanks very much for your help.
