I don't know much about trucks but have a few questions about the cause & effect of a blown headgasket.
#1 Could a gasket blow first, THEN the car overheat? #2 Does a truck ALWAYS overheat FIRST, & would the overheating be the CAUSE of a blown headgasket? #3 Could a head gasket blow just upon starting a vehicle & then it overheat in a matter of a few minutes? #4 Would a faulty water pump potentially be the cause of a blown head gasket?

Thanks for any help on this issue.

Hey Bethany,

1. Yes and vise versa
2. a. no b. It can be one cause
3. Yes, once the head gasket starts to fail its only a matter of time before it goes completely
4. Yes, it can be one cause, if you loose the water pump then you loose coolant circulation in the engine.

Hope this answers your questions!
