I have a 98 Dodge Ram 1500 short bed. It has a 5.2 v8. It sounds like it sucking air at the throttle body. It does it the most on start up and when it is cold outside. I was wondering if it is the sensor on the back of the throttle body or possible the sensor on the driverside of the trottle body. Also i believe I have an injector out on the #7 cyl. . I pulled each connector one at a time and the only the only one that didn't change was the #7 cyl. Would like to know if the air problem is causing this problem or are they two different problems. Also i have to take out of overdrive at 45mph or slower cause it start to shake and run rough. Anything over 45mph it runs great.

The air sucking sound may be a vacuum leak. To test this, have the vehicle running and get a small propane tank and open it up near the gaskets, vacuum hoses, etc. If you put the nozzle end near the vacuum leak the idle should rise up because you are introducing a combustible gas into the engine.

With regards to your injector question, it doesnt necessarily mean you have a bad injector; it just means that you have a dead cylinder. It may be a bad spark plug, wire, yes it could be an injector, compression, etc. You need to diagnose these things.

Let me know what you find
