My truck sputters and hesitates when its cold but is fine once it gets past this problem. We did put split-fire plugs in a few months ago, have tried different brands of gas and have added injector cleaner. I have checked on replacing the fuel pump and I have to ask why some 'kits' have so many parts but othes look like they are 'all together'?

Has the check engine light come on? Also, have you checked fuel pump pressure? Here is a how to. I would do this before replacing the pump:

As far as the gauge, most parts stores will lend or rent it.

When was the last tune up? Have you checked the EGR to make sure it isn't plugged? Vacuum leaks?
