Engine Performance problem
1994 Dodge Ram Automatic

When I apply gas I can hear the engine pop and shutter through the exhaust like a misfire. At Highway speed the truck shutters and shakes, I release the fuel pedal and it stops. On acceleration it seems fine but when I reach my desired speed and partially release the fuel pedal at highway speed it shutters and sounds like it's misfiring in the muffler.

Do you have a check engine light and when was the last tune-up?

Misfiring can be caused by worn or fouled spark plugs, a weak spark (weak coil, bad spark plug wire), loss of compression, vacuum leaks, anything that causes an unusually lean fuel mixture (lean misfire), an EGR valve that is stuck open, dirty fuel injectors, low fuel pressure, or even bad fuel.
