My engine light is on. The car does not run or sound different. The light is not blinking. I tried tightening the gas cap. Someone said to put water in my antifreeze tank, not sure if that is a good idea. Any suggestions? Thanks.

When the light is on it has set a hard code. The light is to notify the driver that there has been a sensor failure. If the vehice is running OK then it is probably an emission failure.

Take it to a shop and have somebody read the code with an engine scannner. THAT'S the only way to tell what the light represents.

Putting water in the coolant jug will do about as much good as going to McDonalds and getting a coke.

Good luck
