Hello, here is the problem: the car will not start after new clutch was installed.

I followed the directions from a service manual step by step during the installation process of the new clutch. It was my first time changing a clutch so the process took about 1 month and 1 week. Car was garaged the whole time in about 20 - 60 degree weather; car was not started during this time. During the removal of the modular clutch I was told to turn the crankshaft from the crankshaft pulley bolt to gain access to the four modular clutch bolts. while turning this bolt, at times resistance was firm but I kept on turning, and at times i turned the crankshaft counter-clockwise, spark plugs were in the car during the rotation of the crankshaft to gain access to the bolts. I later found that turning the crankshaft counter-clockwise is a BIG problem with this vehicle, also keeping the spark plugs in was not good either. Modular clutch was successfully installed and car was put back together successfully.

Now, after trying to start the car, it cranks and cranks then starts to fire up for about 1 second then returns back to cranking. tried about 4 times at 15 second intervals. removed the spark plugs to air out the gas. After removing the spark plugs, I noticed a little bit of oil mixed with the gas on the spark plug ends.

Car has brand new battery, starter, modular clutch, spark plugs and spark plug wires.

My questions:
Why should you never turn the crankshaft/ crankshaft bolt counter-clockwise?
Is the tiny oil/gas mixture normal? If not, is it because I turned the crankshaft counter-clockwise?
What can I do to get my car running again?

Thank you very much for your help, looking forward to hearing from you.
