Engine Cooling problem
1998 Dodge Neon 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

I was told that my car has 2 temp. Sensors but when I call parts stores they only list one. Here is what is going on with my car the gauge is working but the fans do not turn on until the temp. Is red lined and only stay on for about a minute. It has the SOHC

Radiator fan motor relies on the PCM to tell it when to turn on and off. If the motor is coming on late then most likely the PCM is faulty. There is only one coolant temp. Sensor on your vehicle and it is on the rear of the cylinder head, next to the camshaft position sensor.

Powertrain Control Module, it is the vehicle's main computer system.

If relay is not workign then the fans would either stay on or stay off, they wouldn't be able to turn on and off like you say they are.
