My 1997 dodge neon started overheating about 2 weeks ago and the engine service light came on. I got it diagnosed and the upstream o2 sensor on the catalytic converter is stuck in the middle so it doesnt work. The radiator doesnt have a crack in it but it puts out alot of steam. The car gets really hot if i drive around to long so i have to pull over and put antifreeze in it. The head gasket is not blown and i changed the thermostat and the problem still presists. I was wondering if the o2 sensor going bad could cause this type of overheating?

Are you loosing coolant if so check / look at the head gasket
coolant system pressure check always help
check water pump and radiator fan
you need an o2 sensor
