Transmission problem

Hello, greetings to you.
I am writing from Panama. I am driving a 1996 Neon and the 4th and 5th gears don't hold. So I drive either on 3rd or on the highway shift to 5th and hold it with my hand. It is rather tiresome.
I am wondering If I could get whatever is needed repair parts to fix the problem and have this done by a local mechanic or myself. There are some people from the USA coming in July who could bring it. The whole transmission would be too heavy to bring along as baggage, I suppose.
Can you give me options and or advice?
