The idle motor was replaced two yrs ago on my neon and it is now back in the shop after being towed last night because once again I am being told it is the idle motor. In the past 2 yrs I have only put approx 11,000 miles on it with this idle motor. How long do idle motors last? I only drive locally and am not a hard or rough driver.

An idle motor is an electrial component that should last quite a long time, unless installed improperly, or is being fed too much voltage. Basically it's like taking a 40 watt loght bulb and applying 240 volts. It will burn out instantly. You can understand this. You must check the voltage to be sure it is receiving the proper current, using a voltage meter.
