Open the hood and take the shift cable off the transmission. See if you can feel the lever move from Park to 1 ok. If it feels ok then the cable is bad or not adjusted properly, maybe the hold down on the transmission came loose or there is something wrong with the shift lever or interlock system. If the lever on the trans will not go into Park or Reverse also then it is an internal transmission problem and you should loosen the blue and light yellow two switches first to make sure they are not causing any problem they are next to each other on the front and corner of the lower part of the trans. Then take the oil pan down and check the valve body. You should scan the TCM and PCM for codes first also.
