There wasn't an option for "exhaust"--

My car is releasing alot of black smoke from the exhaust pipe. I am concerned because I have never had this problem with any car I have owned.

My check engine light comes on alot, have taken it to parts stores and they say the light keeps coming on because of the gas (has water in it or is poor quality)

I would like to know what this is. Thank you for your help.

Black smoke is an indication of running too rich could be one of the following

1. Fuel pressure not within specs. Can be cause by restricted fuel return line or defective fuel pressure regulator.
2. Defective Oxygen Sensors.
3. Leaking injectors.
4. Coolant temperature sensor out of calibration.
5. Restricted air intake system.
