Air Conditioning problem
2001 Dodge Intrepid Engine Size unknown Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 63000 miles

I just had my a/c fix, which they said it was the evaporator, and so they change that. Now 5 days later, the a/c is not getting cold again, when I got the car, I pick up the in evening and yes it was cold, but not as cold as it should have being.

Now that it's not getting cold, I call them and they are saying that, anything can happen or break, even right after they had fix it. But I told them, I can't believe that because, if you had check the whole system you would have found something else, but you was so convice that it was the evaporator, and nothing else, cause we live in hawaii, and because of the climate we live in.

Can you tell me, what might be happening, cause I'm taking the car back to them, Monday have them fix it, and I don't think I'm paying them other 8oo dollar to fix my car.

Please help me.

mahalo.

Mahalo,
Although I am familiar with auto a/c, It would be impossible for me to tell you the problem without seeing the car. In my experience, A/C shops always choose the most expensive parts to say its broken. Either the evaporator, compressor or the condensor. It can Never be the cheap part like the O-rings or expansion valve. Oh well, what can we do. I hope your a/c shop are decent people and will stand by their work. They shouldn't charge you a penny more for the repair. Good luck. Larry (guam)

It's most likely that you just need Freon added, which is just a refrigerant that cools the air. It costs around 50 bucks, and you can't buy it yourself, so you will have to take it to a garage where they will tell you they need to check for leaks and charge you a lot more.
