When I am driving about 65 or 70 on interstate rpm will go down to 0 and cut off. I will have to pull over to side of road and restart car then it is hard to start sometimes takes about 4 or 5 times to start. It will also buck at times and not cut off I will just see the rpms jump down and go right back up to normal. Any help will be appreciated. I am looking at the map sensor after reading about it on the internet. I got some CRC cleaner and sprayed it with it but did not help. I s there a way of testing the map to know if it is bad or not. There is no code coming up on the car. Thank you Patty

Patty, I have a 2000 Intrepid also, with 170000k on it and was doing the same as yours. I replaced the Crankshaft Position sensor and that took care of the problem. It`s a very easy repair, it`s located back side of engine by transmissiom on the right side of car. Lying under car you can see it with a light, held on by two bolts.
