I have a 1999 dodge intrepid and its pouring out antifreeze from the middle of the engine. we took it inot a shop they said the thermostat housing needed to be replaced, then they found out the water pump does too. they said they would have to take the whole front end off to get to it cause its hidden in the car. how much do you think this will cost us to get fixed? those people arent even sure.

Hello,

Yes the front of the engine has to come apart. The water pump is run by the Timing Belt.

I can give you a range of what it costs here were I live.

$1,200 - $1,800

And that is if they do as they should.

They should reccomend changing the Timing Components since they have to be in the area to change the Water Pump.

If they don't I would go elsewere. There is a possiblility that not having it done that within the next month or so, maybe longer who knows, that the timing belt may break and you will be paying the same price for labor again.
