1999 Dodge Intrepid 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic ? miles

I JUST REPLACED MY ALTERNTOR FOR MY 99 DODGE INTREPID AND MY CHECK BATTERY LIGHT CONTINUES TO COME ON AND AFTER A CERTAIN POINT MY CAR COMPLETLY DIES AND ONCE I TRY TO JUMP IT IT STARTS BUT ONCE I REMOVE THE POSITIVE JUMPER CABLE THE DIES OUT AGAIN I WAS TOLD ITS NOT MY BATTERY BUT I AM STARTING TO THINK IT IS CAN SOMEONE GIVE ME SOME INSIGHT TO WHAT I SHOULD DO OR WHAT NEXT STEP DO I TAKE?

most auto part stores will test the battery for free. have it tested, if its good as well as the alternator then look into the cables and cable ends. make sure they are clean and tight at all connections.
