1997 Dodge Intrepid car jerks and lights come on

1997 Dodge Intrepid 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 180000 miles
when driving for about 10 min or so the car starts to jerk and the cruise light and engine light blink on and off. sometimes it will quit and drive normal and start back up again, usually worse the warmer it is outside and not much in the winter.

Check engine light coming on
Have the computer scanned for code/s-you have a problem within the engine management system that caused the CEL to turn on-This is your starting point of diagnosis,finding out what's going on

coil was replaced and didnt solve the problem.. some saying its a grounding issue? The car did not do this until we got the trans rebuilt.
