Transmission problem
1994 Dodge Intrepid 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

The transaxle makes a loud knocking sound Ithaught it might be the engine but the knocking doesn't increase with the engine speed only when the car is accellerating. It seems to run and pull fine but I know something is on the brink of failing any ideas.

O.K. check inner CV joints for play or torn boots. If good then comming from trans axle. Pull cover plate between engine and trans see if torque convertor bolts are tight
