The most accurate way is to do compression and leak down tests. A simple, but not so accurate test would be to check your engine oil. If it has "milky" substance, it means that your oil is mixed with coolant. That is a sign of leaking head gasket. Another test that you can do is to check your coolant reservoir. If the bottle boils over while the engine is running, it shows that the cooling system does not hold 16 lbs of pressure as there is a leak somewhere
