1987 Dodge Diplomat

Transmission problem
1987 Dodge Diplomat V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 188000 miles

When Comming To A Stop At A Stop Light Or A Stop Sign,

The Engine Shudders And Almost Stalls, And
Then Regains Normal Idle R.P.M.

It Seems To Me That The Transmission Has A Delayed Down Shift Into First Gear.

How Can I Repair This Proplem ?

I Have A 1987 Dodge Diplomat 318 Engine
4 Speed Automatic 904 trans
I'm Not Sure If I Have A Lockup Torque Converter.

Thank You !!!! Peter Montgomery

this may be a torque converter problem. But take it to a trans guy nd have him look at it. It will be easier to diagnose there.
