I have 96 Dakota 4wd and I have a whinning noise in my trans. that slows down and speeds up with the rpm's. When I am coasting and put it in nuetral it will stop, but when I put it back in gear it starts again. It does not slip or hesitate, it shifts perfectly and the fluid is full. I hope you can help me.

Sounds like you are hearing differential whine...since you have a four wheel drive, if it happens when you are in 4x2 mode it means your rear end diff may need some juice! better get to it before you fry your rear end... If it happened when you were in 4x4 mode it could be the front differential or both...checkem both and soon...before you do damage.
