97 dakota doesn't start right

the starter works, engine turns over but will not start at time can someone help , it also over heats when idling,it has 400,000km, i thought it might have been the injectors but i changed them

alot of things might be
you say its over heat do you have compretion !
do you have spark is the fuel pump working
power on injectors
crank sensor fuel pump or relay
