2000 Dodge Dakota Won't start

The dome light does not come on when I open the door. When I turn the key all electrical comes on but the motor will not turn.

Hi:
Have a helper turn the key to the start position while you check the smaller wire on the starter for power. You should have 12 volts. If not, check the starter relay in the power distribution box.
