1999 Dodge Dakota 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

i need help asap i just bought a 99 dakota for 400 dollars what a steal.. but the upper ball joints are shot i need instructions on how to replace the ball joint asap.. im going on leave to see family before deployment so help would be greatly appreciated

UPPER CONTROL ARM & BALL JOINT
Removal
NOTE: If ball joint is defective, ball joint/control arm must be replaced as an
assembly. Ball joint cannot be replaced separately.
Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheel and tire assembly. Remove brake hose bracket from
control arm. Position floor jack under control arm and raise the jack to unload the rebound
bumper. Remove cotter pin and nut from upper ball joint.

Separate upper ball joint from steering knuckle using Remover (MB-991113), being careful not
to damage ball joint seal. Remove control arm pivot bar mounting nuts and control arm.

Installation
NOTE: If ball joint is defective, ball joint/control arm must be replaced as an
assembly. Ball joint cannot be replaced separately. Ensure control arm
pivot bar adjustment bolts are in their original locations.
Position control arm pivot bar on adjustment bolts. Install nuts and tighten to specification. See
TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
1.
Position steering knuckle on upper ball joint. Tighten mounting nut to specification and install
new cotter pin. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
2.
Install wheel 3. and tire assembly.
4. Remove jack stands and lower vehicle.
Align front end. See appropriate SPECIFICATIONS & PROCEDURES article in WHEEL
ALIGNMENT.
