Hi, I have a 1999 dodge dakota that I want to trade in and am trying to fix it up. My fiance and I ran into a problem driving it yesterday. The speedometer all of a sudden quit working and now the check engine light is on and for the life of us we cannot figure out what is wrong with it. We were wondering if maybe it had something to do with the oil filter but that wouldnt make the check engine light come on would it? Or is it maybe a fuse? Does anyone have any suggestions for what could be wrong? It also stalled out on us while we were driving it today. Thanks

First thing you need to do is have the codes read, Autozone does it free, Post the results with the code number(s). Even if the service engine light is not on, there should be freeze frame data stored.
