My 99 Dodge Dakota burns oil What could be causing this and can I fix it for not alot of money

To determine what's causing it to burn oil-Get an engine compression check both wet and dry tests to include a cylinder leakdown test-this will determine if its cylinder wear, rings, valves/guides/seals
