Tires and Wheels problem
1999 Dodge Dakota 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

My spare tire is mounted on an aluminum rim. It has developed a leak around the bead. I have removed the tire from the rim, cleaned the rim with a wire wheel, painted the rim with primer/filler, and clear coated over that to get a smooth surface. I cleaned the tire bead with soapy water, and dried it off. After remounting the tire, it still leaks. Is there anything else that I can do?

Hi:
They make a product to repair tire bead problems as a result of rust, corrosion. It is like a tar that you spread around the bead prior to mounting. I'm sure you can get it at most parts stores.

If you can't find it, let me know and I'll get you an exact name when I'm working this weekend.
