The check engine light keeps coming on indicating a general misfire on cylinders 1, 3, 5, which are all on the sa.me side of the engine. I have replaced spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap and rotor. The light goes out for awhile, but always comes back on within 50 miles or less. The plugs are still in good shape when I check them and they are not burnt, corroded or oiled. Any ideas? Thanks!
Also, does a 1997 Dakota have a cabin air filter?

when the light comes on, how does the vehicle run? No cabin air filter.

It runs just fine. I don't notice any difference in operation, just that I notice that the light comes on. The only noticeable difference is in the mileage, which is not the best in the industry to begin with, but it gets worse after the light comes on. Could a loose vacuum line cause this? I am willing to try anything at this point. Thanks!

Yes, both are working.

Hi Again:

I will assume that you had the computer scanned to no avail. My guess then is it may be a vacuum leak or the ECM may be starting to go bad.

Let me know if you have any other questions. Also, make sure to look for a vac leak.
