I just pressure washed the engine (318) in my '92 Dakota and when I started it there wasn't much oil pressure, barely over the low mark. The higher I rev it the higher the pressure. I shut it off and checked the oil and found small pieces of non-metallic debris on the opposite side of the dip stick. Should I immediatly change the oil? Is there anything I can do to check the oil pump?

id drain and probably flush the engine since their was fragments in there, once that is done put on a new filter and new oil and you should be good to go, you noticing oil on the plugs or blue exhaust?

2 days before I checked and regapped plugs and checked the compression. The plugs were fine and no noticable blue smoke. Is there any way to check how good the oil pump is working?

yeah i would take it back and see what is going on, get back to me on what happens.

to test the oil pressure you will have to unthread the oil pressure test switch and thread in a oil pressure guage and compare to specs.
