I figured that it was my idle air control valve was the problem so i changed it. The only other thing i can think of it being is the transmission control solenoid. the idle on the truck is better now but still dies when put in gear. I got the truck to not die yesterday by starting it in neutral and giving it gas then put in gear it drove till i let off the gas it died i haven't been able to get it to not die in gear after that.

Is the check engine light on? Have you checked fuel pump pressure? Vacuum leaks? Does the truck surge forward when you put it in gear or just die?

The check engine light is not on. I changed the fuel pump 2 days ago.The fuel pump didn't work. I couldn't get the truck to turn on so I changed it. The truck drove fine after I changed the pump. I drove it around my house for a while ,then to a gas station about 1 miles from my house. Got some gas then drove it in to town with was another 5 miles.it drove fine there but when i turned in to the parking lot to another gas station it died. I turned the truck back on right after that but it would die when I would take it out of park. The truck just dies. If I rev it and try it will surge forward and die. There are no vacuum leaks.I did a tune up when I changed the pump.
