No crank no start

No crank, no start, I did the check engine test where I switch to gear 5 times to get a code and I got a 36 check engine code check flash 3 times then pause then a flash 6 times

Just my opinion, if starter motor won't even crank, I'd test that circuit first. Make sure battery has a full charge and battery connections all good. Usually two hot circuits at the starter motor, one comes from the battery, hot all the time. The other voltage circuit, goes hot with key in the crank position, may be wired through starter relay and neutral switch. I haven't looked at your wiring, yet. The starter housing should ground through engine block. Any testing make sure tranny is in park or neutral and parking brake is set.

Electrical problem
1989 Dodge Dakota 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

I have a 1989 Dodge Dakota 2.5L that turns over, but doesn't start. There is also no spark. I have replaced the whole distributor and the computer.

I get gas in the throttle body and get spark in the coil when I ground distributor plugs. But when it turns over there is no spark. I am not sure what to repair or where to look next?

If you are getting spark to the distributor, then either you have a bad cap or rotor. Are both new and in good condition?

I don't get spark to the distributor or spark to the coil when I turn over the motor

BUT, I get spark in ONLY the coil when I GROUND the distributor plug (not turned over)

Okay, if I understand correctly, if you ground the coil wire, you get spark. However, nothing comes from the distributor. Is the rotor in good condition and the distributor cap?

I had an after thought. If you take the distributor cap off and crank the engine, does the rotor button turn like it should?
