Engine Mechanical problem
1971 Dodge Charger V8 Automatic

I have a brand new battery, battery cables and a new starter. My engine still wont crank though. Could my distributor be causing my car problems. when i turn the key it simply makes a light popping noise and it sounds like its coming from the distributor so could my distributor have gone out and caused my engine not to crank

By "not crank" do you mean the starter doesn't spin the engine? The noise from the distributor kind of implies the engine is spinning. Some people mistakenly call a no-start condition a no-crank condition so I just want to be sure.

If the starter isn't spinning the engine, listen to the starter relay to hear if it is clicking when the ignition switch is turned to "crank".
