I have a 1991 Dodge Caravan ES 3.3L engine with 222.060 miles on it. The Engine will sometimes run a little rough and will not get power or shift on acceleration almost like the transaxle is the problem but after a few seconds or minutes this problems fixes it's self and the van runs and shifts fine. But it does reoccur. We have changed out the Output speed sensor and this weekend we are going to change the input speed sensor and change the distance sensor also on the Trans. Today we are going to replace the PCV valve. Please can you tell me if we are on the right track with this.?

When was it last major tuned-up?

Could be the VSS/TPS/MAP sensor.

Fuel filter

How about tranny service -fluid and filter change

Check engine light On?

Try checking the throttle position sensor and Manifold Absolute pressure sensor.

1991 Dodge Caravan ES 3.3L engine with 222.060 miles on it.......................

Ok this time I really paid attention..........
MY MISTAKE NOT THE TRANS!!!!! Van ran good the 12th and the 13th (cooler days) but Yesterday the 14th was in the 70s again, Took the van drove it 5 blocks and filled the gas tank, then I drove it about 5 miles more to my husbands work, shut it off waited for him about 5 minutes. restarted van (Speed Limit is 10 mph in parking lot) got to the security gate and the motor started running a little rough and WOULD NOT GET ANY POWER, So I pulled over to the side put it in park, Motor ran rough enough to give just a slight shake to van NOT MUCH THOUGH, But you knew it was there. waited about 2 minutes the problem went away and van ran fine... No check engine light came on, van did not die but did act like it was going to. have not changed out the Fuel pump yet $173.00 it is on my list though. is there anything else that could also cause this problem? Would like to get this all changed at once.

Here is my Baby

Maybe you should have the oxygen sensor check to ensure its operating properly.

Do not know how to check it. All places that can do it is backed up for 3-4 weeks the soonest I could get in would be the 25th or 26th of april. Maybe better to just change it? It is a lot cheaper the Fuel Pump.
