I have an anti-freeze leak and it appears as though it is coming from the timing chain cover. What is the most possible cause of this leak? Does the water pump have anything run through the timing chain cover?

Thanks

best bet it is the water pump. in the back of the water pump is a small hole. When the seal is going bad it leaks through that hole. take it to a shop and have the system pressure checked.

Thanks for the info. We aslo first thought the leak was coming from the water pump weep hole, but after further investigation, we found the source of the leak coming from the timing chain cover. That's why I was wondering if a failing water pump on this engine could cause water to come from the timing chain cover. If I understood you response correctly, it is possible for this to occur. I have the car at a mechanic now and awaiting diagnosis.

Thanks.
