I HAVE A 2000 DODGE CARAVAN WITH 73,000 MILES. IT IS A AUTOMATIC, 6 CYL. THE A/C WORKS FINE BUT THE FRESH AIR TO RECYCLE AIR SWITCH DOES NOT MAKE A CHANGE WHEN USED. THE INDICATOR LIGHT IN THE SWITCH COMES ON BUT IT DOES NOT SWITCH TO MAX AIR. CAN YOU POINT ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. DON

The recycle switch doesn't cause more air to come out. It's used to switch from fresh air coming in and being cooled for the cabin to using the cabin's air to cool and recycle. This makes the air cooler but will cause stuffiness after a long trip.

The switch will activate a door in the ductwork of the vehicle to switch the air conditioning's source of air to cool. You should be able to see something happening when your head is in the passenger foot area looking up while someone turns the switch on/off several times.

It's activated by vacuum lines so the vehicle has to be running to do this test, be careful the vehicle doesn't accidently get put in gear and run over something/one.
