My instrument panel light buttons (wipers, intermintent, water spray, rear wiper, air, mixing damper) are blinking, all except the rear defrost one. They all work when pushed, but the blinking is driving my wife nuts, which makes it twice as bad for me. Tim

The blinking instrument panel light buttons on your 1998 Dodge Caravan could be indicating an issue with the instrument cluster or the control module that manages these functions. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:

Check for Faulty Bulbs or Loose Connections: Ensure that all the bulbs behind the instrument panel buttons are securely connected and not burnt out. Faulty bulbs or loose connections can cause intermittent blinking.

Inspect the Instrument Cluster Circuitry: The blinking issue might be due to a fault in the instrument cluster's circuitry. Check for any loose connectors or damaged wiring in the instrument cluster.

Scan for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs): Use an OBD-II scanner or a specialized instrument cluster scanner to check for any stored diagnostic trouble codes related to the instrument panel buttons. DTCs can provide valuable information about the specific issue.

Check for a Software Glitch: In some cases, a software glitch or programming error in the instrument cluster or control module can cause the blinking issue. If this is suspected, updating or reprogramming the software may be necessary.

Inspect the Control Module: The control module that manages these functions might be malfunctioning. It could be an issue with the module itself or its communication with the instrument cluster. A qualified mechanic can diagnose the control module for proper operation.

Reset the Instrument Cluster: Disconnect the vehicle's battery for a few minutes and then reconnect it. This can sometimes reset the instrument cluster and clear any temporary software glitches.
