I am having no problems with the engine but someone is telling me I need to the replace the timing belt just because they wear out. Is this true?

If you have the 4-cylinder engine, yes, you need to replace the timing belt. Recommended at 120K miles, but I would do it at 100K miles. You need to replace the water pump at the same time to reduce future cost when the water pump actually fails.
