2002 Dodge Caravan engine light on transmission stuck in 2n

Never had problems; we are "older" drivers; not hot rods; transmission won't shift; engine light goes on; limp mode; was told stuck in 2nd or 3rd gear. disc.battery to reset; engine still comes on; same problem exists...help???
turned ignition off/on got these codes: P1786 & P0700

Is your check engine light on? If yes turn the key from off to on three times, on the fourth one leave it in the on position, the codes will display on the odometer, write em down and post em...

P1684= Battery disconnected during last 59 starts
P0700= Transmission control system malfunction
Could be a bad PCM ground and or bad neg battery cable, P0700 could be a bad TCM. Check the connectors at the tranny and the module, check fuse for the TCM.
