Clicking noise when apply brakes

I have the van listed above SE model. When I start it up and put my foot on the brake with it still in Park, I hear a clicking noise sounds like coming from in under the dash somewhere. It does not do it with it out of gear like in Reverse, Neutral, Drive, just when its in Park. I know you have to apply brake before pulling it out of Park for a safety feature, but what can this clicking sound be? Also I have noticed that when I start it up you automatically get the 3 dings from the dinger, but then it pauses for about 5 seconds and dings one last time, like a delayed reaction. What could that be and why doing it? But my main concern is what this clicking noise is when it's still in park and when I put my foot on the brake. I was told could be the brake switch on the pedal, not having no problems with it except when I pull it out of Park, no other gear does it.

Please Help!

Hi,

your problem is not a problem it is the normal operation the the shift interlock system, the relay is located under the steering column, when you start the vehicle and apply the brake it unlocks the shifter and the interlock solenoid is only active from park to another gear with the brake on.

If when sitting in park and you put your foot on the brake and remove it to get the click to happen and can get it over and over and it is directly related to the brake being applied then it is the solenoid. They are normally pretty noticeable so if this is what it is doing then it is normal.

As for the chimes, this single chime after the initial ones is an indication that a system has been disabled like the seat belt chime. Does the chime go off if the seat belt is not fastened when driving? If not then that is what that chime is indicating.

If this is not the issue then the only way to find out is hook up a scan tool and monitor the messaging system and it should tell you what system has been disabled.

If the clicking is not related to the brake being applied then please get a recording of the noise and we will be able to better determine what it is. Thanks
