I have a 2001 Dodge Caravan and for no reason at all the windshield washer pump came on and started pumping all the liquid out of the tank until the low fluid light came on. Thinking I had a short in the multi-function swith I replaced it but on the way to work the motor started for a few seconds but did not stay on. This happens randomly for a few seconds at a time maybe twice in a 30 mile drive. The windshideld wipers work perfectly as does the rear wipers and fluid switch. Could the fluid pump motor be shorting out or do I have larger electrical module problems. My next thing to do is pull out the pump motor and inspect wires. Help

Most likely faulty Intelligent Power Module left side engine compartment. Washer is hot all time gets ground from module.

I am having the same issue with my fluid. I am unfamiliar with what an Intelligent Power Module is? Is this the Electronic Control Module?

I fixed my problem by simply taking off the front command module and cleaning the many terminals and re-installing it to the front of the Intelligent command module other wise known as the fuse box. Since then my window washer fluid only comes out when I push in the button on the multi-function switch as it should.
