Removal and Installation (Caravan, Town and Country, and Voyager).
Disconnect and isolate negative battery cable. Using suction or siphon device, remove as much fluid as possible from remote power steering fluid reservoir.
With ignition in locked position, turn steering wheel to left until steering column locks in place. This will prevent air bag clockspring from being overextended when steering column is disconnected from steering gear. In engine compartment, disconnect steering column intermediate flex coupler.
Raise and support vehicle. Remove front wheel assemblies. Using Puller (MB-990635), disconnect tie rod ends from steering knuckle. Remove two bolts and loosen the third bolt holding ABS Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) to front suspension cradle. Rotate HCU to allow access to cradle plate. Remove 10 nuts and bolts attaching cradle plate to suspension cradle. See Fig. Remove cradle plate.
Remove pressure and return lines from steering gear. Drain excess fluid from lines, and position aside. Remove three bolts securing steering gear to front suspension cradle. Lower steering gear from suspension cradle sufficiently to remove steering gear- to-steering column lower flex coupling. See Fig. Using a drift, drive roll pin from coupling. Remove coupling from steering gear stub shaft. Remove steering gear from vehicle.
To install steering gear, reverse removal procedure. During installation, an assistant will be needed to align the steering column coupling with the steering column. Adjust toe-in
