Noises problem
1998 Dodge Caravan Front Wheel Drive Automatic 120000 miles

Yesterday I was driving home, about 150 miles, when with about 50 miles to go, I noticed a ticking noise coming from the front left of the vehicle. Having just replaced a flat a few weeks ago, I stopped to make sure the lugs were tight, which they were, and continued on my way. Eventually, the ticking got louder and louder, turning into a popping noise whose frequency kept up with my speed. By the time I got home, the popping got so loud that the entire van started to shake. However, the noise would go away when stepping on the accelerator. It wouldn't go away until I came to a complete stop, and would start back up again when I reached 25-30 mph. After doing some research, I'm most likely sure it is a problem with a CV joint, although when I turned, the noise didn't get any worse or better.

If you raise the front wheels and safely support the vehicle and run the vehicle, it should be easy to find the source of the problem.

If your cv boots are all ripped, it's most likely your CV joint(s) making noise.
