I have a 98 Dodge Caravan that is driving my crazy. About 3 weeks ago, the van died when stopped at a light. Had it towed to the mechanic. They checked computer, and said it was the crank angle sensor and replaced it. The van ran for 2 days, then died again while idleing. Had it towed again, it sat at the mechanics over night and then fired right up with no problem. This time it ran fine for 2 days, and then died while idleing and would not restart. This time the mechanic said that the timing belt went. Had that replaced. This time the van started back up after having the belt replaced, drove for about 10 miles and then died at a light again while idleing. Had it towed again to the mechanic, they had no idea, said that the computer was showing that one of the cylinders was misfiring so they replaced the spark plug for that cylinder. They also replaced the fuel filter. Drove the van home, it died again. Let it sit for two days and it fired right back up, drove it to the mechanic and had them replace the fuel pump. It has been driving now for two days, however when sitting at a light idleing, if in drive it goes down to 300 to 500 rpms and acts like it wants to die again, but when in neutral or park it idles fine. Two months prior to all of this, a tune up was done, replacing all plugs, cables and etc. I am at a loss, and have a feeling that it is only a matter of time before it dies again. Any suggestions???
