Hi - Thanks for your forum and help. I am not sure if the problems are interrelated so here's the story: I loaned my minivan to dad for a month or so in the winter. When it came back, there was a strange smell from the heater vents, so we stopped using the heater. Then when the warmer weather came, we found the air conditioner didn't work anymore (compressor didn't engage) and blew hot smelly air, so we rolled down the windows instead. Now that the hotter weather is here, the van is overheating in stop & go traffic (it's fine on the highway and on cooler days.) I checked and neither of the elec. fans were coming on. Fuses were okay. I removed the fan unit and put 12V directly to the harness with no result and one fan was hard to turn, so I replaced the dual fan assembly. The van was still overheating, so I replaced coolant temp. sensor by the thermostat. Still no fans. I started calling around for the fan relay switch under the air filter, but one of the parts people suggested that perhaps there is an A/C relay that is involved. Our library doesn't have the repair manual avail. yet. Can you help? Thanks!

I emailed you the trouble that starts after you make sure the fan motors are good by putting power and ground to them which you already did. Also can you go to a auto part's store like auto zone and see if you have any code's because there are code's for the cooling fan.
