Hi,
Yeaterday I got in my Van and I notice it is not constant but my engine is going up and down I see the RPM jump. The car had a used transmission installed my my nephew (he is a trained ASE technician at a local huge garage in the last month. I also had him do a tune up. I feel like the car has tun rougher since all this was done. He said runnng rough might be a wearig out motor mount. Now I am idiling up and down and i see the RPMs go up and down, this started as best I can tell yesterday. I am unemployed and it is the only car I have and I am so scared. It took all I had to replace the tranmission, and he didn't charge me labor. Any ideas?
I have my fingers crossed. My email is sndyparris14@yahoo.com I live where there is no public transportation and I am petrified what it is,because it all takes money. I want to say this forum has been wonderful to me.

Are you getting check engine light on
and if so need to get the codes
recheck the tune up
check for vacuum leaks
motor or tranny mount will not cause the rpm to fluctuate

Do you have a check engine light and when was the last tune-up?

Check the idle air control motor/ throttle position sensor/PCV and EGR valves and also check for vacuum leaks

I want to say this forum has been wonderful to me. I rwalize the RPM's have nothing to do with the transmission but as I said I have no money and no job but I am trying to figure out where to start. I am computer literate. I am trying to answer the people nice enough to ask me questions, I cannot figure out how to individually answer you. I KNOW!! SHEESH I am not as dense as I am coming across. Please any help.
