Hi, I would like to know why does my 1995 Dodge Caravan check engine light come on and stay on when I go on the highway until you turn the engine off but around town it does not come on? I went to the auto store and they told me that they can only check the "Check engine light" on 96' and up models.

Thanks, N8

Ask them for an obd1 scanner and check it, could be the check light sensor malfunction

Try having the vaccuum checked to the egr valve. At wide open throttle (on the freeway) vaccuum will be applied and the valve should open. It that is not happening, the light will come on. The egr valve rarely opens during city driving. Good luck!
