I need to remove and repair or replace the alternator in my 1995 Dodge Caravan with 160,000 miles. All my repair information shows is to remove the alternator from the bottom of the vehicle after removing a brace between the engine and timing cover. Unfortunately, there is no room to get the alternator out that way because of the exhaust, the floor and the engine. I would rather pull the alternator from the top, but the alternator mounting bracket can not be removed without pulling the engine. I hope to avoid this. Any information would be extremely helpful as I am about to take a sledge hammer to it.

Hello –

To better assist you is your model the Caravan C/V, ES, LE or SE? Also I need to know your engine size in liter and the 8th digit of your VIN.

Big surprise. I got out the title and found out that the vehicle is not a 95 but a 94. Dodge Caravan SE with a 3.3 L V6 and automatic transmission. Rather than give you the 8 digit in the VIN, I will give you the whole thing: 1B4GH44R6RX221563.

Thank you for your response considering my meager donation.

Hello - Hey one other thing before I let you go........... Also, it looks like you may have some recalls on your vehicle. The dealer may fix these for free. Please contact the dealer service department, give them the VIN number of your car and have them check on these to see if they apply to you.
