1993 Dodge Caravan _Car won't start

I was on the way home, pulled up to stop at traffic light and engine shuddered, check engine light came on and then engine died. Started car put in gear and engine died, di this twice and pushed car home.(1 block) Thought it was fuel pump but pulled off main line in engine compartment and turned engine over and gas came out. heard whirring of fuel pump. Checked for spark at spark plugs, no spark, checked coil pack with multimeter and values were off, replaced coil pack but still doesnt start. Any help would be grateful.
