1999 Daewoo Lanos Manual 112000 miles

hi, I bought a daewoo lanos befote xmas. It will start by jump or bump but not with a key. I have had a new starter motor put in. My guy thinks it should have an imobiliser key to make it start. The guy who I bought off said it does not and that it is the ignition. I dont mind spending money if I know what the problem is. Do you have ant idea before I go to a proper garage

First check fuse #30 in the underhood fuse block, 30 amp. If it is good, go to switch mounted on clutch pedal, up under the dash a little. 2 wires, both red, should have power to one of them with key in crank position, then power to the other when the clutch is applied, if none on both sides the clutch switch is bad, if ok then there is something wrong with the wire to the starter or a bad starter
